Rest (Ukojenie)

Przyjdźcie do mnie wszyscy, którzy jesteście spracowani i obciążeni, a ja wam dam ukojenie
(Ew. św. Mateusza 11;28)
Na niwach zielonych pasie mnie (Psalm 23;2)
Wszelką troskę swoją złóżcie na niego, gdyż On ma o was staranie (I Piotra 5;7)

Obyście przychodzili codziennie przed Pana i znajdowali ożywienie w Jego obecności. On ma o Was staranie.

Are you tired? :) David and I are exhausted after a very busy (but wonderful!) week with the students from the States. At 6:20am this morning as we took the bus to the airport, we watched as men, returning from their night's work, slept with their heads against the window. The demands and difficulties of life make us weary. Sometimes we struggle just to keep up. Health issues, financial problems, strained relationships, demands from work or school ... our spirits can become tired and discouraged.

Yet we are reminded of the truths from God's word:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matt. 11:28)
He makes me to lie down in green pastures (Psalm 23:2)
Cast your cares on Him, for He cares for you (I Peter 5:7)
The Lord is my strength and my shield (Psalm 28:7)
Truly my soul finds rest in God (Psalm 62:1)

Our prayer is that the people of Poland will find daily rest in God. If you are weary and struggling with many difficulties, we pray for you. May you come before the Lord daily and find refreshment in His presence. He cares for you.

Taylor

W tym tygodniu jesteśmy z Davidem w Krakowie, goszcząc grupę studentów z Taylor University. To chrześcijańska uczelnia nauk humanistycznych znajdująca się w Upland, Indiana. Każdej wiosny Taylor wysyła grupy swoich studentów do różnych krajów na całym świecie, by wnosili światło Jezusa. 15 studentów i 2 dorosłych dołączyło do nas, by służyć Polakom. Pomagamy w szkole języka angielskiego, ucząc w przedszkolu, realizując projekt dotyczący cmentarza żydowskiego i robiąc wiele innych rozmaitych rzeczy. Proszę, dołączcie do nas w modlitwie, by Bóg używał tych studentów dla błogosławieństwa Polaków. Proszę, módlcie się, by niektórzy z nich wybrali Polskę i wrócili tu, by służyć Bogu w tym kraju.

Niech nam Bóg miłościw będzie
I niech nam błogosławi,
Niech nad nami rozjaśni oblicze swoje!
Aby poznano na ziemi drogę twoją,
Wśród wszystkich narodów zbawienie twoje.
Niech sławią cię, Boże, ludy;
Niech sławią cię wszystkie ludy!
Niech się radują i weselą narody(...) (Psalm 67; 2-5a)

This week Dave and I are in Kraków hosting a team of students from Taylor University. Taylor University is a Christian-based liberal arts school located in Upland, Indiana. Every spring Taylor sends teams of students to various countries around the world to shine the light of Jesus. 15 students and 2 adults have joined us in Poland to serve the Polish people. We are helping at an English school, teaching at a preschool, doing a project at a Jewish cemetery, and various other things. This is the third year that we have hosted such a group. Dave and I love introducing the students to Poland and watching as God captures their hearts for this nation. Please join us in praying that God will use the students to bless the people of Poland. Please pray that some of the students will choose to return to Poland to serve God in this country.
God be merciful to us and bless us and cause His face to shine upon us,
that Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.
Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You.
Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! (Psalm 67:1-4a)

Fasting (Post)

W Ew.

tę środę i czwartek (16. i 17. marca) będziemy obchodzić "post Estery", by modlić się o ochronę nad Izraelem.

Zachęcam Was, abyście prosili Boga, by prowadził Was w sferze postu.

Jedynie On czyni cuda i dokonuje wielkich czynów. Uniżmy się i módlmy się.

In Matthew 6:16-18, Jesus says, "When you fast ..." Not "if" you fast, but "when." Fasting is an important part of our life in Christ, just as is prayer and worship. Fasting is an opportunity to set aside fleshly desires and focus on God. As we fast, our spirits are more open to receive from God for we become more sensitive to spiritual things. Fasting helps to train us in self-control and we begin to hunger for things eternal. We realize we are totally dependent on God. In our weakness, we find our strength in Him. We fast because the Bridegroom is not with us, and we long for the return of the One whom we love (Matthew 9:14-15).

Throughout history, when God's people have humbled themselves in fasting and prayer, God has responded in miraculous ways. This week, for example, we celebrate Purim -- the holiday which recalls when Queen Esther called a fast and God rescued the Jewish people from the evil schemes of Haman. Actually, this Wednesday and Thursday (March 16 - 17) we will observe an "Esther fast" to pray for protection over Israel.

I encourage you to ask God to lead you in the area of fasting. This week there are many reasons to fast and pray: for your own life as you seek God; for those you love who need hope in Jesus; for Poland as a nation to follow God; for Israel to be blessed by God and to know the Messiah; and now especially for the people of Japan who are suffering from the recent earthquake and tsunami.

As we fast and pray, God hears our cries and is faithful to respond. He is the one who works miracles and performs great deeds. Let us humble ourselves and pray.

Valley of Decision (Dolina decyzji)

David i ja właśnie wróciliśmy z Brukseli.

Pragnie, by wszystkie narody chodziły w świetle Jego prawdy. Módlmy się, aby narody zgięły przed Nim swoje kolana i poznały pokój i radość, które płyną ze służby wiecznemu i pełnemu chwały Królowi wszelkiego stworzenia!

David and I just returned from Brussels, Belgium. We gathered with believers from several European countries to pray for Europe. It was a special privilege to meet inside the European Parliament building and to sit in the place where the delegates from Poland and all of the EU make such significant decisions that affect our world.

In Genesis 12:3, God tells Abraham that He will bless those who bless the people of Israel and curse those who curse them. This is the decision that has faced the nations throughout the centuries. Will they acknowledge God's plan and honor the people of Israel, or will they proudly choose their own way? In Joel 3:2, God says that He will bring the nations into a valley and He will judged them on account of how they have treated Israel. Verse 14 calls this valley the "valley of decision." The Lord will roar from Zion and fight against those nations who plot against Israel.

There are leaders within the nations of Europe who today are plotting against Israel. There are others who are wavering in the "valley of decision." Poland has pledged to be Israel's friend (as evidenced in PM Tusk's recent meeting with Netanyahu). As Poland takes on the leadership of the EU in July 2011, her role will be significant. Let us pray that Poland will continue to be strong in her commitment to Israel, even if she must stand alone. Please join Dave and I as we pray for Jerzy Buzek, Donald Tusk, Pres. Komorowski, and the leaders of Poland. (We are also praying for the 50 Polish members of the EU Parliament. If you would like to pray for one of these members, please let me know. )

God is a faithful, covenant-keeping God, full of love and mercy. He desires that all nations walk in the light of His truth. Let us pray that the nations will bow their knees to Him and know the peace and joy that comes from serving the eternal and glorious King of all creation!
