Light to the Nations (Światło dla narodów)

Minęło już trochę czasu, od kiedy spacerowałam ulicami niektórych polskich miast i wsi, próbując sobie wyobrazić, jak to było 70 lat temu, gdy żyli tu Żydzi. Trudno to pojąć, że istniała ogromna żydowska społeczność (3,5 miliona) w Polsce, a później, w tak krótkim czasie, zniknęła. Taka jest tragiczna rzeczywistość.

Ale niedawno przypomniałam sobie, że nie cała społeczność polskich Żydów zginęła. W żadnym razie! Oni wciąż żyją. Na przykład, mam nową przyjaciółkę tutaj w Michigan, która urodziła się w Polsce w 1925 roku. Została zmuszona, by opuścić swój dom w 1939 roku i chociaż była zesłana na Syberię, udało jej się przeżyć II wojnę światową. Razem ze swoim mężem mieszkają koło nas w Michigan. Ma dzieci i wnuki. A jest wiele więcej takich polskich Żydów żyjących na całym świecie.

Kocham moją przyjaciółkę... ale moje serce jest zasmucone, że jeszcze nie wierzy ona w Jezusa jako Mesjasza. Mówi, że widziała zbyt wiele cierpienia, by wierzyć w Boga. W ten piątek (wieczorem), 11 grudnia, rozpoczyna się "Święto Poświęcenia Świątyni" (Święto Świateł), zwana też Chanuka. Moja przyjaciółka będzie obchodzić święto Chanuka. Przypomniała mi w tym tygodniu, że Żydzi są powołani do tego, aby być światłem dla narodów. Zgadzam się z nią, ale najbardziej pragnę, by ujrzała ŚWIATŁO narodów -
Jezusa.

Czy moglibyście dołączyć do mnie i Davida w tym tygodniu, modląc się w czasie święta Chanuka - święta świateł - aby oczy Żydów zostały otworzone i aby ujrzeli Jeszuę jako wspaniałego Mesjasza? Niech zrozumieją, że ten sam Bóg, który dał zwycięstwo Machabeuszom i odnowił świątynię (168-165r. p.n.e.) uratuje ich i odnowi ponownie przez Mesjasza, Jezusa. W Jego imieniu jest zbawienie!

O, Boże, błogosław Swoich ludzi. Niech światło Twojej twarzy świeci nad nimi i da im pokój.

There have been times when I have walked through the streets of certain cities or villages in Poland and tried to imagine what it was like 70 years ago when Jewish people lived there. It is difficult to comprehend that there was a large Jewish community (3.5 million) in Poland, and then, in such a brief time, they were gone. It is a tragic reality.

But recently I have been reminded that not all of the Polish Jewish community has perished. By no means! They live on! For example, I have a new friend here in Michigan who was born in Poland in 1925. She was forced from her home in 1939, and although she suffered in Siberia, she managed to survive the War. She and her husband live near us here in Michigan. She has children and grandchildren. And there are many more like her – Polish Jews who live all over the world.

I love my friend … but my heart is saddened because she does not yet believe in Jesus as Messiah. She says she has seen too much suffering to believe in God. This Friday evening, Dec. 11, the “Feast of Dedication” (John 10:22 ) – also known as “Chanukah” – begins. My friend will celebrate Chanukah. She reminded me this week that the Jewish people are called to be a light to the nations. I agree with her, but most of all I long for her to know THE Light of the world – Yeshua (Jesus).

Would you please join David and me this week in praying that during this Chanukah holiday – this holiday of lights – the eyes of the Jewish people will be open to see Yeshua as their glorious Messiah? May they understand that the same God who gave victory to the Maccabees and restored the Temple (168-165 B.C.) – will rescue and restore them once again through the Messiah, Jesus There is salvation in His name!

O God, bless Your people. May the light of Your face shine upon them and give them peace.
