Treasure (Skarb)

Nie wiem jak wy, ale ja ciągle robię kopie zapasowe dokumentów i zdjęć, które znajdują się na moim komputerze. Po tym jak zepsuł się już kilka razy, przekonałam się na własnej skórze, że trzeba regularnie wszystko zapisywać. Pracuję teraz nad tym, by zgromadzić wszystkie moje zdjęcia i dokumenty na zewnętrznym dysku twardym. Ale innym razem dotarło do mnie, że nawet zewnętrzny dysk twardy kiedyś "padnie". Dlatego wybieram najcenniejsze dokumenty i zdjęcia i robię ich wydruki. Zaczęłam się zastanawiać: "Czy istnieje jakiekolwiek bezpieczne miejsce, w którym mogłabym przechowywać swoje najbardziej wartościowe rzeczy?"

I wtedy przypomniałam sobie słowa Jezusa:

Nie gromadźcie sobie skarbów na ziemi, gdzie je mól i rdza niszczą i gdzie złodzieje podkopują i kradną; ale gromadźcie sobie skarby w niebie, gdzie ani mól, ani rdza nie niszczą i gdzie złodzieje nie podkopują i nie kradną. Albowiem gdzie jest skarb twój - tam będzie i serce twoje. (…) Ale szukajcie najpierw Królestwa Bożego i sprawiedliwości jego, a wszystko inne będzie wam dodane. (Mat. 6;19-21, 31)

A bogatemu młodzieńcowi powiedział: Jeśli chcesz być doskonały, idź, sprzedaj, co posiadasz, i rozdaj ubogim, a będziesz miał skarb w niebie, potem przyjdź i naśladuj mnie. (Mat. 19;21)

Faktycznie istnieje wieczne miejsce bezpiecznego przechowywania - znajduje się w niebie. A zatem trudźmy się, by gromadzić skarby, które będą trwałe. Szukajmy przede wszystkim Bożego Królestwa, kochając Boga z całego naszego serca, myśli, duszy i siły. Wzywajmy Ducha Bożego, by prowadził nas ścieżkami sprawiedliwości. Okazujmy współczucie ubogim i potrzebującym. Nie pozwólmy, aby doczesne kosztowności odciągały nas od dzieła na rzecz Królestwa i tłamsiły nasze serca. Niech pieniądze nie będą naszym bogiem, ani też niech nie determinują naszych wyborów. Myślmy prawdziwie o tym, co w górze, gdzie chwała towarzysząca Bożej obecności sprawi, że wszelkie ziemskie skarby zblakną.

O tym, co w górze, myślcie, nie o tym, co na ziemi. Umarliście bowiem, a życie wasze jest ukryte wraz z Chrystusem w Bogu; gdy się Chrystus, który jest życiem naszym, okaże, wtedy się i wy okażecie razem z nim w chwale. (Kol. 3;2-4)

If you are like me, I am continually "backing up" documents and pictures on my computer. After my computer crashed a few times, I have learned the hard way that I must save everything on a regular basis. I am now working on a project to store all my pictures and documents on my external hard drive. But the other day I was reminded that even the external hard drive will eventually crash. So, I am choosing the most valuable documents and pictures and making hard copies of them. I began to wonder, "is there anywhere safe where I can store my most valuable items?"

Then I was reminded of Jesus' words:

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ... But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Matt. 6:19-21, 33)

And to the rich young ruler: Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." (Matt. 19:21)

There IS an eternal "storage" place -- it is in heaven. So let us be active in storing away treasure that will last. Let us seek God's kingdom first of all, loving Him with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. Let us call on the Spirit of God to lead us in paths of righteousness. Let us show compassion to the poor and needy. May we not allow the treasures of the earth to distract us from the work of the Kingdom and strangle our hearts. May money not be our god -- nor be what determines the choices we make. May we truly set our minds on things above ... where the glories of God's presence will cause all earthly treasure to fade in comparison.

Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:2-4)
