God, our Father (Bóg, nasz ojciec)

Dziś (16. czerwca) obchodzimy w Stanach Dzień Ojca. Za tydzień (23. czerwca) to samo święto będzie miało miejsce w Polsce. Wpisałam dziś słowo "ojciec" w wyszukiwarkę BibleGateway.com. Byłam zdumiona tym, ile razy występuje ono w ewangeliach. W samej Ewangelii Janowej, Jezus odnosi się do Boga jako swego Ojca ponad 100 razy. Na nowo uderzyło mnie to, jak bliska relacja istnieje między nimi jako Ojcem i Synem. I w całej reszcie Pisma Świętego wielokrotnie pojawia się fraza "Bóg, nasz ojciec" – definiuje ona Boga, stanowi kwintesencję Jego natury. Bóg jest naszym Ojcem.

Kiedy patrzyłam na słowo "Ojciec" wyświetlone na ekranie komputera, poczułam się w pewien sposób poruszona. Na nowo uświadomiłam sobie, że Bóg ma dla mnie "serce ojca" i myśl o tym odcisnęła się na moim sercu. Nie jest On jakimś odległym boskim bytem, który rządzi z daleka, lecz mądrym i kochającym Ojcem, który troszczy się o swoje dzieci. Jestem zachwycona takim Bogiem.

Świętując w tym tygodniu Dzień Ojca, chciałabym zasugerować Wam kilka myśli:

1. Spędźcie trochę czasu, rozmyślając o Bogu jako o Waszym Ojcu. Dziękujcie Mu za Jego wierną miłość i troskę, którą okazuje w Waszym życiu. Otwórzcie swoje serca na bliskość, jaką chce przeżywać z Wami jako swoimi dziećmi.

2. Jeśli Wasz ziemski ojciec nadal żyje, znajdźcie jakiś sposób, by go uhonorować.

3. Módlcie się za ojców w Polsce: aby Bóg objawił im swoje serce Ojca. Módlmy się, by serca polskich ojców kierowały się ku ich dzieciom; by pokładali w Bogu ufność jako ich Zaopatrzycielu; by byli silnymi mężami Bożymi, którzy duchowo prowadzą swoje rodziny.

Potem błogosławił Dawid Pana przed całym zgromadzeniem, mówiąc: Błogosławionyś Ty, Panie, Boże Izraela, ojca naszego, od wieków aż na wieki. (I Kro 29;10)

Śpiewajcie Bogu, grajcie imieniu jego! Torujcie drogę temu, który pędzi na obłokach - Pan imię jego - radujcie się przed nim! Ojcem sierot i sędzią wdów Jest Bóg w swym świętym przybytku. (Ps. 68;5-6)

Łaska wam i pokój od Boga, Ojca naszego, i Pana Jezusa Chrystusa. (To samo zdanie powtórzone jest kolejno w: Rzym. 1;7, I Kor. 1;3, II Kor. 1;2, Gal. 1;3, Efezj. 1;2, Fil. 1;2, Kol. 1;2, I Tes. 1;1, II Tes. 1;2, Filem. 1;3)

A ponieważ jesteście synami, przeto Bóg zesłał Ducha Syna swego do serc waszych, wołającego: Abba, Ojcze! (Gal. 4;6)

Today (June 16) is Father's Day in the States. Next Sunday (June 23) is Father's Day in Poland. Today I typed the word "father" into BibleGateway.com. I was amazed at the number of times the word "Father" appears in the Gospels. In the Gospel of John alone, Jesus refers to God as his Father more than 100 times. It struck me anew how close is the relationship that exists between them as Father and Son. And throughout the rest of Scripture I saw over and over the phrase "God our Father" -- it defines who He is, His very nature. God is our Father.

Somehow, seeing the word Father time and again on my computer screen did something to me. It stamped on my heart a fresh awareness of God's "father heart" for me. He is not some distant deity that rules from afar -- but He is a wise and kind Father who cares for His children. I am amazed at such a God.

This week as we celebrate Father's Day, may I suggest the following:

1. Spend time reflecting on God as your Father. Thank Him for His faithful love and care in your life. Open your heart to the intimacy He wants to share with you as His child.

2. If your earthly father is still living, find a way to honor him.

3. Pray for the fathers in Poland. Pray that they will have a revelation of God's "father heart" for them. Pray that their hearts will turn toward their children. Pray that they will trust God to provide. Pray that they will be strong men of God who spiritually lead their families.

I Chronicles 29:10 -- Therefore David blessed the Lord before all the assembly; and David said: “Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever.

Psalm 68:4-5 -- Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, by His name YAH, and rejoice before Him. A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (This same phrase appears repeatedly: Rom. 1:7; I Cor. 1:3; II Cor. 1:2; Gal. 1:3; Eph. 1:2; Phil. 1:2; Col. 1:2; I Thess. 1:1; II Thess. 1:2; Philemon 1:3)

Galatians 4:6 -- And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”
