Bigger Battle (Większa Bitwa)

Dziś mamy rocznicę bitwy pod Grunwaldem. Pamiętam, jak dwa lata temu, nie zważając na ogromny tłum i parny upał, dzielnie uczestniczyliśmy w 600. rocznicy tego historycznego wydarzenia. Kilka rodzin z dziećmi z Ostróda Camp wybrało się wczoraj do Grunwaldu i wrócili, niosąc hełmy, zbroje i miecze. :)

To dla mnie okazja, by przypomnieć sobie, że w rzeczywistości toczy się dużo większa bitwa, nawet w tej chwili... bitwa o serca ludzi. Poprzedniego wieczoru modliliśmy się o młodą kobietę z Gdańska, która walczy z uzależnieniami i stylem życia, który ją wyniszcza. Wczoraj rozmawiałam z młodą dziewczyną, której rodzice niedawno się rozwiedli i wciąż walczą z poczuciem zdrady i goryczy. Właśnie zakończyliśmy obóz dla polskich dzieci pochodzących z trudnych środowisk. Wielu z nich zmaga się myślami o odrzuceniu i niskim poczuciem własnej wartości.

Podczas gdy Jezus przynosi prawdę i życie, Szatan jest ojcem kłamstwa i jego celem jest kraść i niszczyć – i dlatego szaleją bitwy. Nasza wojna nie jest przeciwko ciału i krwi, ale przeciw księstwom, które walczą na niebiosach. W tym tygodniu módlmy się za tych, którzy walczą, aby mogli doświadczyć zwycięstwa i pokoju poprzez Tego, który jest większy. Być może ktoś z Was znajduje się pośród walki. Poddajmy się Temu, który idzie przed nami w każdej bitwie. On jest dowódcą niebieskich armii – i Jego ręka ma moc zbawiać.

Gdyż bój toczymy nie z krwią i z ciałem, lecz z nadziemskimi władzami, ze zwierzchnościami, z władcami tego świata ciemności, ze złymi duchami w okręgach niebieskich. (Efezjan 6;12)
Pan za was walczyć będzie, wy zaś milczcie! (II ks. Mojżeszowa 14;14)
Złodziej przychodzi tylko po to, by kraść, zarzynać i wytracać. Ja przyszedłem, aby miały życie i obfitowały. (Ew. św. Jana 10;10)

Today is Grunwald. I remember 2 years ago when we courageously braved the huge crowd and the oppressive heat to attend the 600-year anniversary of this historic battle. A few families from here at Ostróda Camp visited the site yesterday and returned with children wearing helmets and armor and carrying swords. :)

I am reminded, though, that there is a bigger battle going on even now … a battle for the hearts of men, women, and children. Last night we prayed for a young woman from Gdańsk who is battling addictions and a self-destructive lifestyle. Yesterday I talked with a young woman whose parents recently divorced and still they battle with feelings of betrayal and bitterness. We just concluded a camp for Polish children who come from difficult backgrounds. Many of them battle with thoughts of rejection and low self-esteem.

While Jesus came bringing truth and life, Satan is the father of lies and his intent is to steal and destroy – thus the battle rages. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities that war in the heavenlies. This week let us pray for those who are struggling, that they will experience victory and peace through Him who is greater. Maybe you find yourself in the midst of a battle. May we surrender to the One who goes before us in battle. He is the commander of the armies of heaven – and His arm is mighty to save.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)
