Król babiloński Nebukadnesar sporządził wysoką podobiznę ze złota i rozkazał, aby ludzie ze wszystkich narodów i języków kłaniali się przed posągiem i oddawali mu cześć. Ci, którzy nie chcieli się pokłonić, mieli być wrzuceni do pieca ognistego. Trzech młodych Żydów nie zgodziło się pokłonić; stanęli wtedy przed królem i powiedzieli:
Jeżeli nasz Bóg, któremu służymy, może nas wyratować, wyratuje nas z rozpalonego pieca ognistego i z twojej ręki, o królu. A jeżeli nie, niech ci będzie wiadome, o królu, że twojego boga nie czcimy i złotemu posągowi, który wzniosłeś, pokłonu nie oddamy. ( Dan. 3;17-18)
Rozgniewany król związał młodzieńców i wrzucił do pieca, ale Bóg ich wyratował. Wyszli z pieca, a na ich szatach nie pozostał nawet zapach dymu. Zdumiony król błogosławił imię jedynego prawdziwego Boga, wypowiadając te słowa: nie ma innego Boga, który by mógł wybawić, jak tylko ten.
W tym tygodniu módlmy się aby Bóg zebrał w Polsce młodych mężczyzn i kobiety, którzy będą mieli wiarę jak Ananiasz, Miszael i Azariasz. Módlmy się, aby studiowali oni Boże Słowo i żyli w świetle Bożego oblicza; aby ich wiara była śmiała i pewna; aby byli gotowi stanąć przed królami i władcami, zdając świadectwo o Bożej wierności; aby nie zginali swoich kolan przed bogami tego wieku i nie poddawali swoich serc bożkom, lecz aby kochali Pana, swego Boga, całym sercem i wielbili jedynie Jego.
Modlimy się o to, Boże, dla chwały Twego wielkiego imienia!
King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon made a tall image of gold and demanded that all people of every nation and language bow down and worship the image. Those who would not bow were to be thrown into a fiery furnace. Three young Jewish men refused to bow. They stood before the King and said,
"... our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Daniel 3:17-18)
In a rage, the King bound them and threw them into the furnace, but God delivered them. They emerged from the furnace without even the smell of smoke on their clothes. The astonished King blessed the name of the one true God, saying, "... there is no other God who can deliver like this."
This week let us pray that God will raise up young men and women in Poland with the faith and courage of Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Let us pray that they will be students of the Word who live in the light of God's face; that they will be bold and confident in their faith; that they will be willing to stand before kings and rulers to testify of God's faithfulness; that they will not bow their knees to the gods of this age or surrender their hearts to idols; but that they will love the Lord, their God, with all their hearts and worship Him alone.
We pray this, O God, for the glory of Your great name!
