In the Center (w centrum)

W ten czwartek są urodziny Mikołaja Kopernika. Przyszedł on na świat 19 lutego 1493r. w Toruniu. Chociaż Kopernikowi przypisuje się wiele zasług w dziedzinie matematyki i astronomii, to jednak najbardziej znany jest dzięki swojej naukowej teorii heliocentrycznej, według której to Słońce - a nie Ziemia - jest w centrum wszechświata. Wówczas teoria ta była kontrowersyjna, gdyż podważała to, co dotychczas przyjmowane było za prawdę. Dziś wiemy, że Kopernik miał rację. Jak absurdalna wydaje się myśl, że to Ziemia mogła być w centrum!

Ale modląc się za Polskę w tym tygodniu, myślę o Koperniku i zastanawiam się, czy nie popełniamy znowu pomyłki, kiedy myślimy, kto lub co jest "centrum wszechświata". Gdy patrzymy na życie ludzi ( i swoje własne) - kto jest w centrum? Czy to Jezus? Czy robimy wszystko, mówimy i żyjemy tak, aby obracać się dookoła Niego? A może postawiliśmy w centrum "SIEBIE" i całe życie kręci się wokół naszych pragnień? Jak jest z narodem polskim? Czy to Jezus jest w centrum czy może został zastąpiony systemami stworzonymi przez człowieka?

Módlmy się, by Polacy dostrzegali, że to Bóg jest prawdziwym Źródłem życia i wszystko, co jest dobre, pochodzi od Niego. Niech dostrzegą, jak daremnie jest próbować żyć samemu, z dala od Boga. Niech przestaną patrzeć jedynie na siebie i skupią się na Jezusie, który jest Wierny. Niech nie opierają się na własnym zrozumieniu, ale pokładają swoją ufność jedynie w Nim.

Czytajcie, proszę Kolosan 1;15-20. Jedynie Jezus jest wywyższony. On stworzył słońce i jest tym, Który wszystko scala. Módlcie się proszę, aby Polacy mogli doświadczyć objawienia Jezusa, który jest pełen chwały i ponad wszystkim. Niech będzie On przywrócony we właściwe miejsce w życiu Polaków.

This Thursday is the birthday of Nicolaus Copernicus.  He was born on February 19, 1493, in the city of Torun. Although Copernicus made many contributions in the fields of mathematics and astronomy, he is most known for his scientific theory of heliocentrism which placed the sun in the center of the universe instead of the earth.  His theory was quite controversial at the time, for it challenged what had always been accepted as truth.  Today we know that Copernicus was right. And now it is common knowledge that the sun is a source of life for the planets that revolve around it. How absurd to think that the earth could be at the center!  

Yet as we pray for Poland this week, I think of Copernicus and wonder if there is again some confusion as to what (or who) is at the "center of the universe."  As we look at people's lives (including our own), who is at the center?  Is Jesus at the center?  Does everything we do and say and live for revolve around Him?  Or have we placed "ME" in the center and all of life revolves around our own selfish desires?  And what about the nation of Poland as a whole?  Is Jesus at the center or has He been replaced by systems created by man?

Let us pray that the people of Poland will realize that God is truly the Source of life and that everything good comes from Him.  May they see how futile it is to try to live life on their own apart from God.  May they take their eyes off of themselves and focus on Jesus, the Faithful One.  May they lean not on their own understanding, but trust only in Him.  May Jesus become the very center of their lives. 

Please read Colossians 1:15-20. Jesus is the exalted one. He created the sun, itself, and He holds all things together. Please pray that the people of Poland will have a revelation of this glorious Jesus who is supreme above all. May He be restored to His rightful position at the very center of Polish life.
