Heavy with Grief (Pogrążeni w smutku)

Nasze serca są obciążone głębokim żalem z powodu masakry, która miała miejsce w szkole podstawowej w Connecticut. Choć w minionym roku doświadczyliśmy kilku bezsensowanych aktów przemocy, to jednak brutalne morderstwo małych dzieci szczególnie wstrząsnęło narodem. Trudno pojąć, jak coś takiego mogło się stać. Coraz więcej mówi się o kontrolowaniu posiadania broni oraz o sposobach zapobiegania takiem okrucieństwom, ale ogólnie można wyczuć, że panuje nastrój bezradności. Nikt nie wie, jak zatrzymać to szaleństwo.

Wielu spośród naszego narodu odwróciło się od Boga. Wzrasta duchowa pustka. Gdy wiara słabnie, a moralne granice ulegają rozmyciu, cierpimy z powodu tragicznych konsekwencji. Jedynym trwałym rozwiązaniem jest zmiana w sercach ludzi, która jest możliwa w potężnym imieniu Jezusa.

Proszę, dołączcie do naszej modlitwy za rodzinami dwadzieściorga dzieci (w wieku 6-7 lat) oraz rodzinami sześciu osób dorosłych, którym odebrano życie. Niech Bóg pocieszy ich w bólu i da odwagę, by zmierzyć się z jutrem.

Gdyż bój toczymy nie z krwią i z ciałem, lecz z nadziemskimi władzami, ze zwierzchnościami, z władcami tego świata ciemności, ze złymi duchami w okręgach niebieskich. (Efezjan 6;12)

Bóg jest ucieczką i siłą naszą, pomocą w utrapieniach najpewniejszą. (Psalm 46;2)

Our hearts are heavy with grief over the massacre at the elementary school in Connecticut. Although we have experienced several senseless acts of violence during the last year, the brutal murder of young children has stunned the nation. It is difficult to comprehend how something like this could happen. There is increased talk about gun control and ways to prevent such atrocities, but it is easy to see that the overall feeling is one of helplessness. No one knows how to stop the madness.

Many in our nation have turned their backs on God. There is an increasing spiritual void. As faith in God wanes and moral absolutes blur, we suffer the tragic consequences. The only lasting solution is a change in the hearts of men and women made possible through the powerful name of Jesus.

Please join us as we pray for the families of the 20 children (ages 6 and 7) and six adults whose lives were taken. May God comfort them in their grief and give them courage to face tomorrow.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Eph. 6:12)
