W piątek miałam przywilej być na koncercie Orkiestry Filharmonii Narodowej w Warszawie. Jako część obchodów roku chopinowskiego, orkiestra i chór wykonali operę "Norma" Belliniego. Wykonanie było wyśmienite. W pewnym momencie, dźwięk pełnej orkiestry i 85-osobowego chóru był tak mocny, że gdy wypełnił sale koncertową, było to wręcz przytłaczjące. Było to takie głośne, silne, pełne. Ponieważ nie rozumiałam libretta, próbowałam sobie wyobrazić, że było to na chwałę Bogu. I wtedy pomyślałam o fragmencie z Objawienia św. Jana 5;11-13, który opisuje dziesiątki tysięcy aniołów wielbiących Boga przed Jego tronem. Jeśli 85-osobowy chór mógł śpiewać z taką siłą i brzmieć tak wspaniale, to jak brzmiałby chór milionów aniołów?? Wow! Trudno to sobie wyobrazić. Ale tak naprawdę nawet teraz to uwielbienie dociera nieustannie przed Boży tron.
Po raz kolejny w tym tygodniu przypomniałam sobie o chwale Boga i o tym, że jesteśmy częścią tej cudownej rzeczywistości. Pewnego dnia również i my będziemy wielbić dookoła krystalicznej wody i dołączymy do tego niesamowitego brzmienia -- ale zanim to się stanie, wpatrujmy się codziennie w Tego, który siedzi na tronie i podnośmy nasz głos i wszystko, co w nas jest, by wielbić Tego, który jest godzien.
On Friday evening I had the privilege of attending a concert of the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw. As part of this year's Chopin celebration, the orchestra and choir performed the opera, "Norma," by Bellini. The performance was excellent. At one point, the sound from the full orchestra and 85-voice choir was so strong and powerful it filled the auditorium and was nearly overwhelming. It was so loud, so strong, so full. Since I could not understand the lyrics, I tried to imagine that it was praise to God. And then I thought of the passage in Revelation 5:11-13 that describes 10,000 x 10,000's of angels worshiping before the throne of God. If a choir of 85 could sing with such strength and sound so glorious, what would a choir of millions of angels sound like?? Wow! It's hard to imagine. Yet the reality is that even now this worship goes on continually before God's throne.
Again this week I want to remind you of the glory of God and that we are part of this amazing reality. One day we, too, will worship around that crystal sea and join in that incredible sound -- but until then, may we daily gaze upon the One seated on the throne and lift our voice and all that is within us in praise to the Worthy One.
